The latest glass representations of Istanbul will be presented at Bucharest on 23rd of April by Gokhan AVCIOGLU – special guest at INGLASS 2012.
Gokhan AVCIOGLU is the winner of the 2011 and 2010 editions of International Property Awards, a well known prize that rouses the interest of architects all over the world, each year. At the beginning of February, Gokhan Avcioglu was nominated the winner of MIPIM AWARDS 2012 – Regeneration and Masterplanning Cathegory. The prize award ceremony will be held on the 7th of March at JW Marriott Cannes Hotel.
In a recent interview, Gokhan AVCIOGLU talks about the appliance of glass in two of its latest projects which received numerous prestigious awards at international competitions:
The Esma Sultan Palace „plays a highly important role to demonstrate how glass is used in contemporary context. We planted an invisible glass box inside the ruins of a palace to create a covered venue that constantly reminds us the multiple histories innate in the new design. Thus, the contextual approach embodied itself with the glass box in the old structure by presenting a contemporary space.“
Autopia also „stands as an example for the use of glass façade in a mega project. The continuous glass façade moves referring to the roads inside and provides smoothness for this huge industrial building.“
INGLASS 2012 reveals the latest representations on glass in metal, concrete and wood structures.
INGLASS is part of a series of events organized by ABplus Events and the Order of Architects in Romania, together with GIS and RIFF.
