Podčetrtek is a small town, and the new sports hall represents the single local indoor venue. Although primarily intended for sports activities, the main municipal hall will be also used for cultural events with larger number of visitors. It is this dual role that defines the platform for the specific design of the building.
Design team of Serghii Makhno and Vasiliy Butenko have completed the interior for a restaurant in Kiev, where you can fell like baby bird while drinking cocktail or have a dinner at tornado top. This restaurant can be classed as modern European and offers a molecular kitchen style dishes. The main aim while designing this restaurant space was to create an environment that is natural, modern and comfortable.
The form and function of the object are primarily defined by the surrounding context – thick pine woods and burnt down site of the debris what once used to be a primary school “Veli Vrh”. Hence, the project aimed at maximum preservation of the existing pine woods as a setting into which small hills, school facilities, elements of squares, sports fields and gathering places get carved in.
