Green Pavilion / Restaurant

ZELENI PAVILJON / RESTORAN

The most important element and the inspiration for this project is the location itself, with extremely high quality existing vegetation densely distributed throughout the plot and gradually diluted out toward the eastern edge. The idea of the new Pavilion / Restaurant is to construct a space by mapping the area of high quality trees and to define the remaining territory for construction.

Head of GXN, Kasper Guldager Jørgensen refers to the project as an Architectural Cookbook and says of the collaboration, ‘We move in parallel worlds. NOMA’s dedicated and creative engagement in gastronomy is similar in many ways to GXN’s experimental take on new materials and ingredients in the architectural world.’

TROLLSTIGEN NATIONAL TOURIST ROUTE PROJECT

TROLLSTIGEN NATIONAL TOURIST ROUTE PROJECT

Located on Norway’s west coast, Trollstigen is perched within a dramatic pass between the deep fjords that characterize the region. This panoramic site can only be visited and constructed in summer, due to severe winter weather. Despite—or perhaps because of—the inaccessible nature of the site, the project entails designing an entire visitor environment.

Container and content. A journey through touristic sites.

When we think of city traveling, our experience leads us back to a sum of places to be visited, where spots of the urban textile include hotels, whose features bend accordingly depending on the city in which they dwell. In some cities, such as Milan, hotels and accommodation facilities try to make themselves touristic attractions, sites “to be visited”, instead of just being places of rest and temporary staying.
