In many ways this project shares the logic of a Russian matryoshka doll. Not only in the most literal, physical sense, in which one thing is directly incorporated into another, but also in a temporal sense, in which one actually originates within the other. The urban park by BIG + TOPOTEK1 + SUPERFLEX conceived as a giant exhibition of urban best practice by incorporating everyday objects from more than 60 different cultures, constitutes a rare fusion of architecture, landscape and art.
The theme of this issue is in many ways continuation of the last issue’s topic where we discussed if we should take pleasure in architecture, like we enjoy art, or it should provide us with the pleasure of comfort and other positive effects of spending time in modern buildings. Now we are taking that question one step further by addressing the issue of exhibition buildings which interiors serve as display areas for other types of art.
